Transfer news live: Liverpool’s new Wirtz bid, Arsenal’s Sesko talks and Man United striker latest
Follow all the latest transfer news and done deals ahead of the summer window
The transfer window is open for a shortened period between 1 June and 10 June to enable transfers to be made ahead of the summer’s Club World Cup.
Manchester United have began their needed rebuild after a disastrous season, and have secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The captain Bruno Fernandes also provided a boost by turning down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
Manchester City, meanwhile, have agreed a fee to sign AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Liverpool have also been busy putting in a club-record bid for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz while goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has left for Brentford. The Reds also wrapped up a deal to bring Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield by triggering his £29.5m release clause.
Arsenal, meanwhile, may have hit a snag in their attempted addition of Martin Zubimendi but Mikel Arteta has sanctioned talks with RB Leipzig over striker Benjamin Sesko in their ongoing pursuit for a No 9.

Diaz in talks with potential suitors
Luis Diaz has revealed that his representatives are talking with other clubs.
Liverpool rejected an approach from Barcelona for the Colombia winger and have insisted he is not for sale.
And Diaz said he is happy at Anfield and does not want to leave – but is considering alternatives in case Liverpool do not give him the right offer for a new deal.
The former Porto winger’s contract expires in 2027, though he said he is content to stay at Anfield for the next two years.
Diaz said: “I’m very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they’ve made me feel really welcome. Right now we’re in contact with them because we’re speaking with [other] clubs. It’s normal, the market is open, and we’re trying to sort out what’s best for us.
“I am just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool doesn’t make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy and content to stay there. And that’s it, everything depends on them obviously, it’s up to me to decide what’s best for us and the future.”

Joao Palhinha considering Bayern exit
Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha says that he is open to leaving Bayern Munich if he fails to receive more regular first-team football. The tough-tackling former Fulham player has struggled to force his way into Vincent Kompany’s preferred side, and though he has vowed to fight for his place if he remains in the Bundesliga, a move away could be an option.
“I still have three years left on my contract here at Bayern,” he told Sky Germany. “I need to talk to the coach and sporting director about whether I’ll get my chance here. If not, then we’ll see.
“My dream is to be successful here. It was incredibly tough getting here. Nothing in life is easy. I’m proud to have landed here. There’s no reason to be angry. I’ve won a title with Bayern and hope there is more to come. I will always fight, whatever the future holds.”

Real Madrid ready to sign Argentina wonderkid
Real Madrid are approaching a deal for Argentine sensation Franco Mastantuono, reports Fabrizio Romano.
Los Blancos and the player have a total agreement on personal terms.
The final piece will be a fee for River Plate, though the clause sets the price, at $45m (£33.2m), the structure will be negotiated in the coming days.

Al-Hilal make big offer for Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen’s free-scoring season at Galatasaray on loan will surely lead to a permanent move away from Napoli this summer - and it appears Saudi Arabia could be his destination. Fabrizio Romano reports that Al-Hilal have offered £55m plus £4m in add-ons - and it appears that Osimhen may be keen on the move.
Why Matheus Cunha makes sense as a Manchester United signing
Any deal for Bryan Mbeumo would follow the recruitment of Matheus Cunha for Manchester United. Adam Clery looks at why the Wolves forward’s signing could be a good bit of business for Ruben Amorim.
Grealish is at a crossroads – and the next step is far from obvious
Here’s our Senior Football Correspondent, Richard Jolly, on the future of Jack Grealish:
Sometimes a career can be measured by what happens over summers. In 2021, Jack Grealish became the most expensive Englishman in history, the Premier League’s record signing, the £100m man. In 2023, he was the treble winner whose celebrations in Ibiza felt the stuff of legend. In 2024, he was, to his surprise, omitted from England’s European Championships squad. In 2025, it would be rather less of a shock if he is excluded from Manchester City’s Club World Cup squad.
It could be seen as the rise and fall of Grealish. He may be deemed to be at a crossroads, though one interpretation is that he has reached a dead end, at least as far as City is concerned. Grealish, 29, has started one Premier League match in 2025, appeared for a grand total of four minutes in City’s last seven top-flight fixtures and did not make the bench for their final-day win at Fulham. Pep Guardiola has said he dislikes having to leave players out of the matchday squad, that the players and the club have to find the “best way” forward. He both wants a smaller squad and is busy making signings. Something has to give. Someone has to go.

Watford sign Marc Bola from Samsunspor
Watford have signed Marc Bola from Turkish side Samsunspor.
The 27-year-old previously featured in the Championship with Middlesbrough and has now joined the Hornets on a three-year deal.
“I can’t wait to get started,” the left-back said. “We really want to get promoted as a team. We’ve got big plans and I’m just happy to be on board.
“Personally, I just want to play as many games as possible. I have unfinished business in this league and I feel like this is the right club to be a part of to achieve that goal.”
Man United raise bid for Mbeumo
Manchester United submitted a new bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo yesterday, with the latest offer is much closer to Brentford’s valuation of £60m.
United’s original bid of £45m and £10m in add-ons was rejected by the west London club, but they have wasted little time returning with a higher offer.

Jorginho joins Flamengo before Club World Cup
Italy midfielder Jorginho has joined Brazilian side Flamengo ahead of this month's Club World Cup, following a mutual termination of his contract with Arsenal, both clubs said.
Jorginho, whose Arsenal deal was set to expire at the end of the month, has joined Flamengo on a contract until July 2028.
The 33-year-old Brazil-born Italy international moved to North London from Chelsea in January 2023, making 78 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal.
Arsenal finished second to champions Liverpool in the Premier League in the recently-concluded season.
"We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Jorginho to end his contract with immediate effect to become a free agent," Arsenal said in a statement late on Friday.
