WhatsApp appears to have broken in a major outage. But it soon came back online.

The chat app appeared to have briefly stopped working across the world.

Users reported that they were unable to receive or send messages on Friday afternoon UK time.

Tracking website Down Detector saw a huge spike in reports of problems at around 4pm in the UK. But soon after the app was back online and messages appeared to sending and delivering.
