Green Day and MTV join to make 'Rock Band' game together

Multi-platinum Grammy-winning group pop punk rockers, Green Day, announced at the Spike TV Video Game Awards Saturday that they are releasing a videogame, Green Day: Rock Band, for Harmonix, a major developer of music-based games. It will be released in 2010 as a collaboration with MTV Games and Warner Bros./Reprise Records.

The game spans the band's career with songs, venues and key moments. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong said. "We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks, and play along with us as Rock Band avatars so they can feel what it's like to perform on stage as Green Day."

On Tuesday, December 15, the band contributes three more tracks from its current album, 21st Century Breakdown, to the Rock Band Music Store available for downloads, "Christian's Inferno," "Last of the American Girls," and "?Viva La Gloria?"

The new game is created for the Xbox 360 video game, Microsoft, PlayStation 3 systems and Nintendo's Wii(TM) system.

The Rock Band platform offers more than 1,000 songs from more than 390 artists. Rock Band offers content through on-disc gameplay, game export, downloadable content, and soon with the Rock Band Network.
