The recently released LOVE app from The Beatles contributed to the legendary band's attracting over 700,000 new Facebook fans this week, making the Fab Four this week's "biggest risers" on the social networking site.
The LOVE app is based around a Beatles-inspired Cirque du Soleil show, also called 'LOVE,' which premiered in 2006 and is still running at the Mirage in Las Vegas.
According to the show's website, the performance "celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles through their timeless, original recordings" and combines acts from 60 international artists with Beatles music.
The application grants users exclusive offers on tickets and news from the show as well as exclusive videos and popular Beatles songs.
The iOS version of the application was originally released in February; however, news of the release of an Android-compatible version announced on the band's Facebook page on April 5 attracted a combined total of nearly 30,000 "likes" and is most likely for the reason for the brand's attracting 766,205 new Facebook fans this week.
The Beatles' enduring popularity and influence on pop culture also no doubt contribute to the amount of fans visiting the band's social networking page, which as of April 8 had a total of more than 16.4 million fans.
The second biggest riser on Facebook this week was the Badoo application for Facebook, which attracted 659,866 new fans over the past seven days.
