BATCHWORTH BOUND: Burdened by a 7lb penalty, put up a fine performance when finishing second to the well handicapped and well backed Umbria on soft ground at Chepstow on Thursday. From a stable currently in good form, this filly should be worth following, particularly when the going is faster. (S Mellor).

METAL BOYS: Already the winner of nine races - all five furlong sprints on good or fast ground - this six-year-old showed he should soon be reaching double figures when finishing a close-up fifth to Bells Of Longwick on Sandown's rain- softened turf last Wednesday. Best on a stiff five furlongs. (Miss L Siddall).
