Racing: For the Notebook: A weekly list of horses to follow:
CLIFTON BEAT: upset the favourite Segala in a limited stakes race at Newcastle on Tuesday to record an easy first win. Tackled smart nursery company last year and the stable could place this son of Danzatore shrewdly back in handicap company as the year progresses. (Mrs J Ramsden)
SRI PEKAN: finished well in front of two previous winners, to whom he was preferred in the market, when chasing home the smart-looking juvenile Princely Hush at Lingfield on Friday. Seems sure to improve on this promising debut. (P Cole)
SUPER DEEDS: found one a neck too good in Lago Di Varano when backed down to odds-on for her debut at Newcastle on Tuesday. This sister to Great Deeds should go one better soon. (M Channon)
WHITTLE WOODS GIRL: won a maiden on her first attempt on turf at Newcastle on Tuesday by five lengths, progressing from two placings on the all-weather, and can take another small race. (E Alston)
