Krishman in command

Old Loughtonians, who came away with the National Indoor Championship on Friday, their first National title, kept alive their hopes of an Indoor and Outdoor double when they beat Guildford 2-1 in a steady downpour at Chigwell yesterday. They are n ow onepoint behind the leaders, Surbiton, in third place with two games in hand.

Without Nick Thompson, suspended following a red card in the Indoor final, and the injured Colin Hector, the Old Boys started tentatively, but goals from Neil Barker and Paul Krishman inside a minute put them in command by the interval.

With Ian Jennings, returning after a back operation, directing operations, Guildford rallied and Jennings converted a penalty corner in the 51st minute but the Essex side held out.

Surbiton lost their unbeaten record when Teddington's captain, Andy Billson, scored after a long clearance from Simon Nicklin for a 1-0 victory. In double-headers, Cannock beat Indian Gymkhana 4-0 on Saturday and Bournville 6-0 yesterday to move into second place.

Southgate also made up ground with a 2-0 win against Reading on Saturday followed with a 1-0 win away to the defending champions, Havant, Duncan Woods getting the goal.
