Griffiths and Sharp head for new clubs
Waterloo have signed the promising Bridgend stand-off Lyndon Griffiths. The 23-year-old has played for Wales at youth and under-21 levels. Two others joining the club are the Liverpool St Helens prop, Steven O'Keefe, and David Warwick, a centre from Wigton in Cumbria.
The Coventry director of rugby, Derek Eves, is on the brink of signing another player from his old club Bristol. The Second Division club expect to sign the former Scottish international prop Alan Sharp within the next two weeks, meaning Sharp will be the eighth member of Bristol to move to the Midlands.
Steve Pearce, the Aberavon forward, has been cleared by the Welsh Rugby Union despite being sent off on 14 December against Maesteg.
Pearce, a Cardiff-based policeman, was alleged to have butted Maesteg's player-coach, Steve James, but James later said he was not touched. Aberavon's appeal against the dismissal was upheld by the WRU's disciplinary committee.
David Evans, the former Wales outside-half, was taken to hospital on Wednesday night with a suspected broken jaw after a collision during the testimonial match for Bridgend's Glen Webbe.
