Who is leading the Giro d’Italia? Maglia rosa and general classification standings
UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider Isaac del Toro held on to his overall lead after stage 19

Isaac del Toro held off a late attack from Richard Carapaz to close in on victory on the penultimate climbing test of the Giro d’Italia.
Stage 19 looked a possibly decisive day in the general classification battle but attacks were relatively few and far between, with a reduced group of favourites instead content to stay together through the rigours of a number of tough categorised climbs.
That was until Carapaz launched in the final few kilometres, briefly putting young Mexican Del Toro under pressure but soon finding the UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider back on his wheel. Del Toro swept past the Ecuadorian veteran to take the line second just ahead of Carapaz, extending his advantage at the top of the standings by two bonus seconds to leave 43 between the pair entering the final two stages, with others, including Simon Yates, losing time behind.
A lack of activity beforehand left victory on the day to be taken by Nicolas Prodhomme, continuing an impressive Giro by securing a first grand tour stage win.
Pre-race favourite Primoz Roglic abandoned the race on stage 16, crashing in miserable conditions and abandoning with around 100km to go, but the Slovenian had been largely out of the GC picture entering the final week having lost yet more time to del Toro on stage 15.
