Birmingham Bullets should shatter the attendance record for a domestic game tonight, having confidently predicted a crowd of close to 10,000 for the first round of their three-game play-off series against the new Budweiser League champions, Sheffield Sharks.
The Birmingham owner, Harry Wrublewski, said: "We won't just break the record, we will demolish it." The same two clubs set the record for a regular season game at 5,700 when they met at the National Indoor Arena for the second leg of their National Cup semi-final in February.
The only games to attract a bigger crowd were play-off finals either at Wembley or Birmingham's NEC, but no game in the UK has ever attracted a crowd of 10,000.
