Tolls for the islanders of Skye using the new road bridge were halved yesterday - but campaigners vowed to fight on for their complete abolition.
The action group, Skye and Kyle Against Tolls, claims the announcement by Donald Dewar, the Secretary of State for Scotland, missed the point of their 15-month battle. The 50 per cent cut brings the price of a car journey down to pounds 1.25. Commercial vehicles will pay pounds 18.95 and buses will pay pounds 11.45.
