A MAN has slashed Picasso's painting "Femme nue devant le jardin" (above) with a knife at the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art in Amsterdam. The work, painted in 1956 and valued at pounds 4.5m, was badly damaged (left) in Sunday's attack.

A spokeswoman for the museum said restorers believe the painting could be repaired.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the attack.
