Man on incendiary device charges

Police in Bristol have charged an unemployed man with intent to cause explosions following the recovery of six incendiary devices in Birmingham. The devices - "all live and ready to go" - are thought to be linked to an animal rights campaign. Barry Horne, 44, will appear before Bristol magistrates today on two charges alleging he acted with intent to cause explosions. The charges relate to the discovery of two devices in a BhS store and a Cancer Research charity shop in Bristol's city centre. A third charge alleges Mr Horne had possession or control of explosive substances. All the charges allege explosives "of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious damage to property".

The arrest followed a lengthy police surveillance operation investigating the activities of an animal rights organisation.
