It's inevitable that at some point you will find yourself staring at a bottle of wine without a corkscrew in site. On June 14, wine guru Jancis Robinson tweeted a video with an unlikely alternative - a shoe.

Here are five ways to open a (corked) wine bottle that might surprise you:

-       The shoe method on video hosting site Wimp.com: http://wimp.com/wineshoe (in French)
-       Similar to the shoe method - but with the support of a tree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq7DBjCzSuE
-       Using a phonebook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rafqCGfVj2I
-       With the help of a nail, screwdriver and hammer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0E6Ok0-MP0
-       Russian technique with a Sharpie marker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGEHMRXzR4U

Next step, pour and enjoy! To do tomorrow: buy a corkscrew.
