Body found in hunt for missing model

Murder hunt detectives investigating the disappearance of a model have discovered the body of a woman.

Kirsty Grabham, 24, has been missing from her home in Rosehill Terrace, Swansea, south Wales, for nine days.

South Wales Police said a body had been discovered today in the Laleston area of Bridgend.

A police spokesman said today: "South Wales Police in Swansea investigating the murder of 24-year-old Kirsty Grabham have discovered what is believed to be a body of a woman in the Laleston area of Bridgend.

"The body has not yet been formally identified and the coroner has been informed.

"A trained family liaison officer is supporting the family."

He said officers had been granted more time to question a 25-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder.

Mrs Grabham was last seen getting into a taxi which picked her up from a friend's home in Dan y Graig Road, in the Port Tennant area of Swansea, shortly before 4am on 24 March.

She had been at the Play nightclub with friends earlier that night.

Following a previous appeal, police have now traced the taxi driver who took her home.

The model's mother, Catherine Broomfield, spoke at the weekend of her deep worry at the length of time her daughter had been missing.

"She would phone me every day without fail because she knew I would worry otherwise. I just want her back," she told the South Wales Evening Post.

"It is completely out of character for her to vanish like this. When we spoke on the Friday she sounded fine. There was nothing out of the ordinary.

"I am just devastated. I cannot believe that she has been gone so long."
