After three decades and 15 albums together, alternative rock legends R.E.M. have announced that they are to disband. "We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished," a statement on the band's website said. "To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening."
