PS3 network fail – now back on track?

Thousands of gamers had an unwelcome missive from their PS3s this week. Owners of older versions of the console received a message reading, “8001050F – Hardware failure.

Cannot update Firmware or connect to internet”, leaving them unable to play games or access PSN; in some cases, trophy achievements were deleted.
