Computers: Feedback: Support for PCW

Like thousands of others I am 80 per cent happy with my Amstrad PCW 8256. I would, however, quite like a word processor which is a bit faster, with a bigger memory and, above all, a better printer.

Roland Perry's article was helpful in identifying two retailers who stock the PCW 9256 and 9512 (Ryman and Dixons). Both are in stock at local branches. What a pity therefore that in neither of them was there any enthusiasm to sell me one. Neither retailer offered to demonstrate the machine; neither had samples of work produced on the printer; neither even offered me a leaflet which would show the quality of print.

Neither was willing to make up a package different from the one on display, for example with a sheed-feed printer. And neither was willing to talk about a part exchange, however modest, with my existing PCW - something that a small stockist is offering.
