Rachel Schraer is The Independent’s Global Health Correspondent. She is an award-winning multimedia journalist with over a decade's experience in health reporting, fact-checking, and investigative storytelling. She has tracked disinformation, uncovered scientific fraud and presented documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and the World Service. Since joining The Independent in 2025, Rachel has reported on reproductive and maternal health and the role of international aid. Rachel's work is contributing to The Independent's Rethinking Global Aid project
