Technofile: Object Lesson - Rexel Staple Wizard
Great technology doesn't have to change the world. If it makes a task significantly easier, then it shouldn't be ignored.
The Rexel Staple Wizard is an automated stapler. That's all it is. But place it on your desk, and you will soon have queues forming. Available in a variety of colours, the Staple Wizard is deliberately designed to look fun - although there is a stern warning on its base that "This is not a toy" - and it provides some entertainment as you can watch the cogs turn as it does its stuff. But the best thing about it is that you don't even need to press a button to make it work. Just slide the paper in at the front and a sensor automatically persuades it into action - hence the queues. Now you may never have thought that operating a stapler was a particularly hard task. But one turn with the Staple Wizard and you'll be converted, and find the more old-fashioned machines unnecessarily arduous. A snip at pounds 12.99. Available from Ryman stores.
