First Call

CP TAYLOR wrote more than 60 stage plays in 20 years, but found his niche as a political writer after the Second World War. In works like Lies About Vietnam and Truth About Sarajevo, he demonstrated his ability to make complicated subjects crystal clear. He allowed political ideas to filter through ordinary situations and people, something exemplified in his most highly praised and penultimate play, Good, which traces the self-deception and moral inertia that enables a German professor to work in Auschwitz. Directed by Michael Grandage.

Last Call

THE CREAM club night on New Year's Eve should live up to its name, having secured a powerful line-up. Headlining are two of the most rated acts to come to the fore this year -- Fatboy Slim and Faithless (right). For the 7,000 revellers expected to attend, there should be at least one DJ to please, with the legendary Paul Oakenfold, Roger Sanchez and Todd Terry attending. This event will be broadcast live on Kiss FM.
